FAQs
What happens if my student can’t make it to one of the tutoring sessions?
The response varies depending on the type of tutoring session you choose to sign up for.
GROUP TUTORING: If your student is unable to make one of the group tutoring sessions, please inform your tutor by email, text, or phone call. Upon completion of the session the student will have access to the recorded session.
ONE-TO-ONE TUTORING: If your student is unable to make one of the one-to-one tutoring sessions, we will work together to schedule a make-up session. If we are unable to come up with a time to make up this lesson, then you will be refunded for the price of one lesson.
What happens if my student is late to the tutoring session?
If a student’s tardiness does not exceed 15 minutes, then the student can stay up to 15 minutes after the session’s end time to go over the missed material or ask any questions that they may have. If the student has missed more than 15 minutes of the class, they may request to get a recording of the lesson so that they can view the portion of the lesson that they missed.
I’m trying to sign up for a course but it’s asking me to log into Schoolified. Do I have to make an account?
Yes. Schoolified is our tutoring portal. It contains our virtual classroom, a calendar of all courses, course payment, and more. By creating an account you are taking the first step to register for your course.
What kind of technology is needed for class?
A Chromebook or laptop is ideal for viewing the teacher’s whiteboard and the student’s whiteboard simultaneously. While the student can use a smart phone to participate in class, it may be challenging.
A second recommended tool to help enhance the learning process would be a drawing tablet. Being able to digitally write out your mathematical thinking with a stylus makes the writing process of math so much faster and much less frustrating, allowing the student to focus on the learning rather than the technology. Some Chromebooks and laptops are already built with the ability to write on the screen using a stylus which is perfect! But if you do not have a device like this, you can purchase a drawing tablet on websites such as Amazon for as little as $20. If you have questions or would like recommendations on how to find a drawing tablet that suits your needs, send an email to info@mathxptutoring.com.
Depending on the student’s study environment, headphones with a mic can be helpful to alleviate some of the background noise, making it easier for the student to focus and hear the lesson.
